Vastu - Compliant Home Design
π§ Vastu-Compliant Home Design - Balance, Energy & Happiness
Namaste and welcome to Yerva’s Architecture — where every design begins with balance, direction, and energy.
In India, we don’t just build houses — we build emotions, energy, and traditions into our walls. That’s where Vastu Shastra plays a powerful role. Vastu is the ancient science of architecture, connecting the five elements of nature — Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space — to bring peace and positive energy into your home.
As a modern designer, I respect science and technology — but I also believe in vibes. A house may be beautiful, but if it doesn’t feel right, something is missing. That’s why I always consider Vastu in my designs.
✨ Why Vastu is Important in Home Design
Many people think Vastu is just superstition. But Vastu is actually about designing with direction. It’s about:
Proper light flow
Ventilation
Energy balance
Daily movement patterns
When these things are aligned with nature, the result is a peaceful and happy home. Families fight less. Children study better. Money flows better. This may sound spiritual — but it’s also psychological.
π‘ My Style of Vastu-Based Planning
Here’s how I plan a Vastu-compliant house in my own way — combining tradition with smart design.
1. Main Entrance – Face the Right Direction
The entrance is the mouth of energy. I always recommend the northeast (Eshan) or north for the main door. These directions bring in the morning sunlight and freshness.
❌ I avoid southwest or southeast entries they often bring heat or heavy energy.
2. Kitchen – Place of Fire
Kitchen should be in the southeast (Agni corner) because it represents the fire element. Cooking in this zone keeps health problems away.
π₯ Stove must face east.
❌ Avoid north or northeast kitchens — they disturb financial energy.
3. Bedroom – Peace Zone
The master bedroom should be in the southwest — the most stable corner. It brings long-term peace, better sleep, and stronger relationships.
I place the bed head towards the south or west so that energy flows smoothly while sleeping.
❌ Never place mirrors opposite the bed — it disturbs rest.
4. Pooja Room – Sacred Space
Pooja room must be in the northeast. This is the zone of purity and divine energy. I keep this corner simple, quiet, and well-lit with natural light.
π―️ Pooja idols must face west or east — so the person praying faces the right way.
5. Bathroom – Waste Removal Zone
Bathrooms should be in the northwest or southeast. I plan proper water flow and drainage away from the living zones.
πΏ The toilet seat should face north or south.
6. Living Room – Energy Hub
I design living rooms in the north or east side — this is where light enters first.
Sofas face east or north.
I add plants in the northeast corner to activate positive energy.
πΏ Extra Vastu Tips I Follow
Keep the center of the house (Brahmasthan) empty — no walls or heavy furniture.
Use light colors like cream, white, or soft yellow.
Use natural materials like wood, stone, and terracotta.
Keep the northeast clean and clutter-free.
Add a tulsi plant in the east or money plant in the north.
π¬ My Thoughts
Vastu is not about fear — it’s about balance. It doesn’t mean you must follow everything blindly. I believe in adapting Vastu rules to modern lifestyles.
A home must support your life goals — whether it's peace, success, or love. Vastu gives us a guide, but the final design must match your taste and comfort.
π Conclusion
Vastu-compliant homes are more than just trend — they are timeless Indian wisdom. Whether you're building a small house or a luxury villa, adding Vastu elements creates harmony, health, and happiness.
I design with direction, emotion, and intention. That’s my way — and it works.
